In the previous article, we talked about the importance of prayer in the family. We also discussed two simple ways on how to teach your children about prayer. Here are two more ways:
3. Show your children that prayer really works.
Every time God will bless us, we always see to it that we tell our children about the blessing as a result of our prayers. In one retreat that my son attended, he shared this experience with his classmates. When they finished their activities for the day, they decided to rest in their room. Upon reaching the room, they cannot find their key, so they decided to look all over the place. After spending so much time and effort, still they were not able to locate the key to their room. Then my son suddenly remembered what we do at home. Every time we can’t find something, we pray. My son asked his classmates to have a time of prayer and they did. After praying, they look for the key again and in just a few minutes they were able to find the key. Why did my son pray? Because he knows that when we pray, God answers.
4. Teach your children that obeying their parents is not for their parents but for them.
Isa sa pinakaimportanteng natutunan namin sa Diyos ay ang verse sa Ephesians 6:1-3: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’—which is the first commandment with a promise—that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.’”
By the grace of God, He blessed me beyond my expectations.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:6-7
