We all need life hacks because we are inevitably going to face setbacks. We all do. It’s impossible to avoid them in life. But it is not about falling or failing; it is the way we respond that matters. The truth is, we don’t have to stay down. We can get back on our feet. Again. And again. Just like the bobo dolls.
Here are three simple hacks to get back on our feet in 2023!
#1: Never RESIGN to a life of defeat and believe that nothing can alter or change it.
Admitting a failure is a strength. Resigning to it is a sign of weakness. Instead, work on the blunder by learning and rebounding from it. Even at our weakest moments, we hold our heads high even when everything around us says otherwise. People who never give up believe there is a solution to every problem. So they constantly work to find a suitable resolution to redefine their pursuit. A setback is not a life sentence.
“When you start living the life of your dreams, there will always be obstacles, doubters, mistakes, and setbacks along the way. But with hard work, perseverance and self-belief, there isno limit to what you can achieve.” ― Roy Bennett
#2: Set SMALLER goals because celebrating small successes can eventually motivate us to reach bigger goals.
Smaller (not small) goals are easier to achieve regularly, meaning we can set them more often, build off them, and constantly see ourselves improving. Smaller goals also minimize procrastination. They lay down a clear path to success, allowing you to focus on one win at a time, leading to more reasons to celebrate life. Sometimes setbacks are set-ups for something more powerful in the longer term, albeit a tiny step at a time.
#3: Find solid ANCHORS that provide stability and security, even in rough seas.
When faced with intense adversity, focusing on anything other than the mighty waves and strong winds is difficult. Having a solid anchor helps stabilize us when our navigation system fails. As we reattempt to get back on our feet after a failure, finding the right kind of support or anchors from the right people is essential. One of our main anchors is our belief in God, who never fails to be with us through strong winds and powerful waves. Our other anchors are our family and close friends. The deeper the anchors, the more fearless we become.
If you’re struggling with a challenging situation, you don’t have to handle everything alone. There are hacks. Don’t be afraid to lean on others, be emotionally vulnerable, and express your feelings and needs. Confide with your pastors, friends, and family, or seek professional help.
