The Tabernacle of Our Hearts

Tabernacle in our hearts

In Amos 9:11-12, God gives a wonderful prophecy, “On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old; that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name.”

The prophet is speaking about restoring the house of David. We see this in the death and resurrection of Jesus, whose Messianic title is the Son of David. He spoke of Himself in John 2:19, saying, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

Yet that promise is not just for 2,000 years ago; it is a promise for us today! God does not live in temples built with human hands; He lives in you and me. Because of what Jesus did, we can rebuild the tabernacle in our hearts where we have His presence, His glory, and His Holy Spirit.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? –1 Corinthians 3:16

God continues with this amazing promise: “Behold, the days are coming … when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it” (Amos 9:13).

That’s an overwhelming harvest! As the seed is being planted, the reaper comes and reaps what grows. It’s instantaneous. This is a symbol of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the new wine of Pentecost that flows like a river and covers the land.

The days of the final ingathering will be the greatest harvest the world has ever seen. So let’s ask God to be part of His plan. Let’s put Him first, love one another, and trust Him to watch over His Word to perform it.

God bless you!
