God makes no mistakes. God never guesses. He never over-thinks anything. He is never confused, never anxious, and never without a plan.
The universe testifies to the order determined by the Creator. The sun comes up every day. The moon in its various versions appears each night. The seasons come and go. The order of the planets, stars, and galaxies never stops. One of my family members has a beautiful saying, “No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.” That is true—it was designed by a God who holds everything in the palm of His hand.
The nations, as disturbed and conflicted as they may appear, are also on God’s “radar.” He sees how things are playing out in every country and He is actually moving it all to a predetermined end. This is often puzzling for us to watch, and because we don’t see what is behind the scenes, many of us become fearful.
My wife Denie loves to puzzle. She often opens a puzzle and spreads the pieces on a table. To look at the early stages of a puzzle it appears to be chaos—a merging of incomplete images and multiple colours seemingly without connection. She has the puzzle box with a photo, showing the projected outcome. From that design, she patiently works on putting the pieces in order.
The world looks a bit like that today. Because we don’t have the photo on the box, most of it doesn’t make sense. Governments appear to be out of control. Politicians often appear completely incompetent. I’m looking at this world and the nations as I look at Denie’s puzzles—just an apparent mess of colours with no order.
God makes no mistakes. God never guesses. He never over-thinks anything. He is never confused, never anxious, and never without a plan.
But hidden in this world’s confusion of religions, ideologies and politics, I believe that the hand of God is on the nations. It won’t make sense until the final outcome. It never does to anyone who does not have the picture on the box.
The Bible is our “picture.” It gives us a glimpse of the direction God is going with the world. We have the assurance based on everything God has made ,and everything from the past, that He really is in control. Out of chaos He brings order and design and beauty.
We all have seasons of despair and confusion, but here’s what I know. God has good plans for us.
God said to the nation of Israel, “I have plans for you.” And then they were almost wiped off the face of the earth. Was this the plan? God told them, “I have plans to prosper you, plant to give you hope and a future.” And in time, the nation of Israel has been reborn and is thriving today!
God has a plan in the chaos—for me and for you. Now let’s not get excited and take matters into our own hands! Think big. Think universe. Think solar systems. Think the laws of nature. Oh yes! Yes! Yes! He made all that. He can take care of me and you.
When chaos comes, don’t jump to conclusions. Jump for joy! God has not changed. We are as inconsistent as tall grass in the wind. The wind blows and we wave back and forth. But the wind never moves the rocks. The troubles we see never move God. Best to sit down upon something that never moves- the rock, Christ Jesus.
We must be faithful. We must keep walking. We continue listening to God and keep expressing our faith to God in our words. “Lord, all around me is chaos! I don’t get it. But I know you do. Lord, I don’t know what to do, but I do know you. And you will turn this around.”
Take a deep breath and relax today….You are going somewhere with God…you just don’t have the complete map. But God sees the chaos and He sees the map. He is in control. Hallelujah!
