With all the problems we see in the world today, it’s easy to become entangled by worry and fear. So how do we break free? The answer is found in 1 John 4:18, which says, perfect love casts out fear.
We get rid of fear through love. God doesn’t call us just to love the people who are related to us or are nice to us. He calls us to love our enemies.
How can we find that love? This is a great time to examine our hearts and say, “God, You are the source of love. You are the source of everything we need!”
Romans 8:37 tells us, Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. However, in the original Greek, this passage says we are more than conquerors “through the love of Christ given to us.”
Yes, Christ loves us—and He also gives us that same love to share with others!
So if you find your love is growing cold, just ask Him for more. He is pleased when we admit, “Lord, I’m not loving as You loved,” and He will freely give that love to you.
Remember that Jesus loved to an extreme degree on the cross. The very people who beat Him, crowned Him with thorns, mocked Him, spit on Him, and nailed Him to the cross—those are the people He is speaking of when He prays, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34).
That’s an amazing level of love, and He is willing to give it to us.
Now, more than ever, the world needs the Gospel. So, instead of being fearful, ask Him for more love. And as 1 Corinthians 13:7 assures us, love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. God bless you!
