At Christmas we celebrate the coming of Jesus, the Word made flesh. He is not just words on a page, but the Living Word. He is the I Am—the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And He desires to reveal Himself to us.
He tells us, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).
The more we know Him, the more that things of this world fade in importance. Paul writes in
Philippians 3:8-10: I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him … that I may know Him.
Paul is essentially saying, “I’ve lost everything; hallelujah! Because I can know Christ more. All that matters is knowing Him and being conformed into His likeness.”
We need to value what Jesus has done for us by His coming into the world, dying on the cross, and rising again. Not only do we have access to the Son of God, but we also have the right to be partakers of His divine nature.
Jesus gives us this amazing promise in John 14:21, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. … And I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
So as we prepare for a new year, ask Jesus to show Himself and speak to you. Ask Him for a revelation of His nature, that you may know Him. And you will experience the living Christ as His Word comes alive in your heart—more and more each day. God bless you!
