Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” — John 3:3

The verse above is one of the foundational Scripture of the Christian faith. This is one of the very first verses that one will encounter in his spiritual walk because here is where it all begins–being born-again.

While having my quiet time a few days ago, I was led to this verse. I sometimes use the the New King James Study Bible in certain occasions and during this particular moment, I came upon this verse after visiting the devotional section of cbn.com. We sometimes overlook this verse because it is so “ordinary” for Christians. But then, I was reading some of the side bars in the study Bible and was curious about the explanation about the Kingdom of God.

According to the author, the Kingdom of God being referred to here is not a physical kingdom, but a spiritual kingdom. Once we are born of the Spirit or being born-again, we are now able to see God’s spiritual kingdom where there is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. You see nor experience none of that when you were not yet born-again.

Seeing the Kingdom of God also makes it easier to endure all the difficulties that life puts us through. We are able to forgive a lot easier, endure happier and be joyful in whatever circumstances. When Jesus hung the cross, He was able to endure that because of His love for us and the will of Father and also because He is going to a Kingdom which will never end. That in itself makes it all worthwhile.
