Today, as we reflect upon our country’s history and heritage, let’s also take a special time to pray. We are living in perilous times, and our ship of state must navigate through unprecedented storms and uncharted waters.
We can find great comfort in Isaiah 9:6-7, which promises:
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
How reassuring to know that the government is on His shoulders! It’s a government of everlasting increase and peace, and the Lord of hosts will perform it.
Because of His overwhelming love for you, Jesus went to the cross. He died. He rose again. Right now He is at the right hand of the Father—and what is He doing? He is interceding for you and for me.
So let’s enter into that place of peace. It’s not something we must do, it’s something He has already done. When we have that attitude, we have true freedom to pray—not with anxiety, but in quiet confidence.
So as we pray for our nation, let’s stand in faith together, having the full assurance that we are interceding in accordance with His will, His government, and His peace. And His Word tells us that when we ask, He will answer.
May God bless you, and may God bless America.
