In the End There Was a Shoe

Feb 1, 2012 | Uncategorized

A cheap knock-off pair of walking shoes. My eldest son gave it to me last night for my birthday. I was not expecting it. The shoe fit me perfectly and felt nice. It was only worth 200 pesos but touched me the most. My 16-year-old son remembered me and bought me a gift from his own money. I am blessed.

Earlier in the day, I bought an expensive camera lens for thousands of times more than the shoe. It would definitely last longer than the shoe. Later in the day, my team at the office gave me a gift to a dinner for two, a few more times more expensive than the shoe. Last night my small group came over for a surprise treat and brought food at the house, again many times more expensive than the shoe. But the shoe was the most memorable because in his youth, he remembered his old man.

The Bible says in Psalm 127:3, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.” further in verse 5 it says this: “Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”

My God gave my children to me and they have been a blessing in so many different ways, truly I am  a blessed man.

As I write this, I am now 42 years and a day old or more exactly: 15,3451 days, 8 hours and 9 minutes old. My God has been so good to me and I give Him all the honor and praise. He gave me a precious family and great friends. There is nothing more that can compare.
