A clenched fist can’t shake hands. It can’t build bridges, make peace, or welcome friendship. Neither can it applaud—because anger always silences celebration. What feels like strength in the heat of the moment often leaves us weaker, lonelier, and chained to resentment.
Physiologically, a clenched fist triggers the body’s stress response, raising the heart rate, tightening muscles, and flooding the body with adrenaline. It signals threat, not peace. When prolonged, this tension can lead to psychosomatic problems such as headaches, fatigue, and anxiety. The body remembers what the mind refuses to let go of—Anger stored in the body slowly becomes a poison to the soul.
Freedom begins when we let go.
- Open hands reach farther, bringing healing and hope.
- Choose peace—because it brings clarity of mind and purpose.
- Applaud the good—don’t let bitterness blind you to blessings.
Peace and healing begin when you let go of your pain—not because it didn’t matter, but because you matter more.
“Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil” — Psalm 37:8 (NIV)
