In my previous article, I discussed why we decided to live healthier and wealthier. One particular area mentioned was when we decided not to eat pork. Let me explain why:
a. Fish is cheaper than pork.
Agree or disagree? Ang sagot ko, “I disagree!” Depende ‘yan sa kilala ninyong isda. Ang mamahal ng mga kilala nating isda gaya ng Lapu-Lapu, Labahita, Pink Salmon, Blue Marlin at iba pa. Pero ang sabi ng doctor, “May Bangus, Galunggong at Tilapia”. So, payag na ako.
b. Ang baboy ang isa sa pinakamaruming hayop sa balat ng lupa.
Isipin n’yo na lang, pangalan pa lang n’ya – baboy na, yucks!!! Pangalan pa lang n’ya, dirty na. Nakakita na ba kayo ng hayop na mas madumi ang pangalan kaysa baboy? Pangalan pa lang madumi na.
c. Ano ang kinakain ng baboy?
Ano ang kinakain ng baboy kapag nagugutom? “Kaning baboy.” Yucks!!! Ano ang kaning baboy? Panis na pagkain, galing sa tira-tira, sira, madumi, na ayaw na nating kainin pero ipinapakain natin sa baboy. Kaya pala masarap ang baboy. Pinaghalo-halong panis na kanin, spaghetti, pansit, hotdog, menudo at kung anu-ano pa. Pagkatapos, kakainin natin ang baboy. Ito ang sabi ng doctor, “You are what you eat.” So ano ang kinakain ng baboy? Kaning baboy. Tapos, tayo kumakain ng baboy na kumain ng kaning baboy. So ano ang kinain natin?
Sabi isang participant, “Sir, hindi naman lahat ng baboy ay kaning baboy ang kinakain. Feeds ang kinakain ng iba.” Ang problema, paano n’yo malalaman kung ano ang kinain ng baboy na kinakain ninyo? Para makasiguro na malinis ang kinain ng baboy na kakainin ninyo, ito ang kailangan ninyong gawin. Pagpunta n’yo sa palengke, itanong ninyo sa tindera, “Excuse me, miss, anong kinain ng baboy na ito?” Itanong ninyo ha, kung kaning baboy o feeds. Ito ang malaki nating problema, hindi natin alam.
d. Alam ba ninyo na ‘pag gutom ang baboy at walang pagkain, pati PUPU niya ay kinakain niya. ”Yucks!”
Naaalala ko noong bata pa ako, isa sa aking trabaho ay maglinis ng kulungan ng baboy. Kaya lang, kung minsan, pagdating ko para maglinis ay malinis na ang kulungan. Ang sabi ng katiwala namin ay ganito, “Ay naku, nakalimutang pakainin ang baboy. Kaya pati pupu n’ya kinain n’ya.” Yucks!!! Kaya pala malinamnam ang baboy, may pupu. Yucks talaga!!!
