International speaker and best selling author, John Bevere, published earlier this year his newest book, X Multiply Your God-given Potential. X is for the mathematicaI symbol for multiplication by the way, in case you were wondering. I was able to order a copy during their Multiply 2021 event last January and it arrived four months later, three months of that was spent at the Philippine Post Office. Then it sat on our bookshelf for months along with the other books I intended to read. It was definitely not a good idea.
This is really a hard hitting book. Chapter 1 alone convicted me of what would happen if I miss out on God’s call in my life and of the potential I can have in advancing the Kingdom of God. By the third chapter, I could not help sharing what I was learning with people I come across with.
If you have read my past book reviews, I usually read a chapter of the book I am currently reading daily. With John’s X Multiply Your God-given Potential, I decided that I would also take notes so that I would be able to retain better what I was learning. It was a good move. There are also reflective questions at the end of each chapter that will help you meditate on what you have just learned. I can appreciate approaches like these because, you can use it as a Bible study or group devotional material.
Some of my favorite quotes from the book:
- “We are not a spectator in advancing God’s Kingdom but a vital participant.”
- “How effective you are is not up to God but to you.”
- “Your destiny which God prepared for you is beyond your natural ability to do.”
- “Every person is called, gifted, and valuable to the building of the Kingdom.”
- “The gifts of God on your life are not for you; they are for others to benefit through you.”
John was not only convincing (he must’ve had the help of the Holy Spirit) but was able to articulate on the subject with such clarity and wisdom. The Bible verses God gave him for each chapter was spot on and he expounded thoroughly. He used words and examples that are easily understandable and relatable; he truly has a gift for writing.
On the design side of things, the version of the book is hard bound very well laid out for easy reading. The size of the letters are very comfortable for someone with my eyes. It also feels premium, again because of the binding, and the quality of the inside paper that they used which is thick and has a warm tone. I am not a fan though of dust jackets, which is usual for hard bound books, but hey, it is what it is.
As I write this, I have completed reading chapter six and looking forward to quickly finishing it so I can share the wisdom contained in the book with others.
This is really a book that I whole heartedly recommend for you. We all need to multiply our potential. We all need to work hard at it whatever our age, gender, or race we may be. God sees us as who were, His children. He has given us sooo much potential. We should go for it.
