I discovered this app on Facebook while browsing through the timeline of a new friend. I was instantly intrigued and immediately went to the Facebook page to “Like” it. I typed in “littlealchemy.com” and a simple website opened and not really knowing what it does. So I dove right in.
You start with four elements: water, earth, fire and air–yes, just like in the cartoon series, The Avatar. Then you combine two elements and a new “element” is created. Combining water and fire produced steam. Logical. I thought it was fun! The illustration were very simple and whimsical. I imagined that it was going to be quite addictive.
It was.
I then found out that they had an iOS and Android version aside from the web app. I quickly downloaded the iPad app when I got the chance. Then I showed it to my wife and she got hooked. I now have to jockey for some play time with the app. Too bad.
Did i mention that there are 300 elements to discover? As I write this, we have only found 63. Not too shabby for a few hours of fun. The app gets amusing and and sometimes bizarre. For example, you combine human and bird and you get an angle. Good grief, what will they think of next?
The app is very educational and what makes it really interesting is in the excitement of finding out something unexpected. Go check it out!
P.S. The app is available on Android too!
